[Inspiration] NOT Sorry

How many times a day do you say ‘sorry’ for no reason? Honestly…think back about it? When you bump into someone, when you talk over someone, etc. etc.

It’s always been a pet peeve of my own that I always say sorry, but I truly thought it was just me!

In Pantene’s most recent ad, Shine Strong, they highlight this all-too-common occurrence of people, particularly with women, apologizing for having an opinion or say.

It’s absolutely worth a watch and worth thinking about…

Create Your Summer List ☀

SUMMER IS HERE!  Well, almost…summer officially starts tomorrow! What are you planning to do?

Earlier this spring, for their 2014 Bikini Series, my Tone It Up trainers challenged the team to make a Create Your Summer list – putting down goals for summer. The fun stuff we want to do, eat, enjoy with friends, etc.

I had a blast creating mine…

I’ve already starting trying to do some of these fun things…and I’m adding more!

What do you hope to do this summer?

[Recipe] Orange Maple Salmon

Now that it’s been a little over a week since the wedding, we’re starting to get back to our normal routines. One of the things we’re trying to get back to doing is making food at home. It’s SO easy to just go out or order in…not only does that get expensive, but excessive! I feel like I just keep eating when we’re out…so many things I want to try! :)

Anyway, getting back to cooking at home is easier when you have food to cook. We’ve been running around with the wedding, then our mini moon to Cape May then work…there’s really no time to head to the store. Luckily, we have Blue Apron!

This week, they sent a recipe for Maple & Ginger Glazed Salmon with Watercress, Orange, Parsnip Salad and it was SO delicious! I think the salmon is great for any day – so I wanted to share!

Orange Maple Salmon

  • 2 garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 1 1″ piece of ginger (chopped)
  • 1 orange (zested approx 2 t, chopped pieces)
  • 1 T sunflower seeds
  • 2 T maple syrup
  • 2 T soy sauce
  • 2 T sesame oil
  • 2 salmon filets
  • 2 T olive oil
  • S&P

  • Blot the salmon filets with a paper towel, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Wash and chop scallions, garlic and ginger. Separate white and green pieces of scallions.
  • Zest orange, then peel the orange. Discard the rind and cut the segments into bite sized pieces.
  • Add olive oil to pan and heat to medium.
  • Place salmon in pan and cover with orange zest.  Cook through, approximately 3-5 minutes each side.
  • Remove salmon from pan, and add remaining olive oil.
  • Add scallions, garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add syrup, soy sauce and sesame oil. Cook until the mixture thickens, approximately 1 minute.
  • Add salmon filets back into mix and spoon liquid on fish.
  • Serve with salad or side veggies.
  • Enjoy!

FREE Yoga!

As you’ve seen, I’m a bit of a newbie yogi but I’m LOVING IT! I’ve been trying to bring yoga sessions into my routine more and more to add tone and balance with my running and strength training. That being said, I can’t honestly afford to be a member of ALL THE GYMS haha

So, I’m super excited to share some (amazing) FREE yoga sessions around town!

Saturday Summer Salutations with M Power Yoga
I’m SO excited that the incredible team from M Power Yoga (opening this summer in Canton!) will be hosting free yoga sessions on the rooftop of the Natty Boh tower. The will be hosting these free sessions every Saturday morning during the month of June on the roof of their future building. I mean, how awesome is this view?!

They hosted a few free classes during Lululemon’s summer series, as well as a full month of May classes and they were just incredible. I’m genuinely so excited for this new studio to open. The people who are running it and who are teaching there are/will be truly inspiring for our local yogis!

Sunday Mornings in the Inner Harbor with Charm City Yoga
Waterfront Wellness is BACK! This was one of my favorite free yoga traditions over the past few years. The Waterfront Partnership brings in fun instructors for a variety of free classes outside – including yoga, bootcamp and more! These classes are on Saturday AND Sunday mornings (yoga is on Sunday).

We had a beautiful day this past Saturday with friends and family right here in the beautiful Baltimore harbor at the Four Seasons. As I said, our photographer Pete Redel is super skilled…he gave us a little tease with this pic from the weekend but he’s still working on the rest. I can’t wait to share more!

Stay tuned! :)
